Feedback from our 11,000th Swimmer : A Military Veteran
Veteran Hayden Morgan was searching for a way to be active and stay healthy after his service in the military. He had always enjoyed the water, particularly when on vacation, but he felt he was taking chances in the water because he didn’t know how to swim.
After an online search, he came across the Swim Strong Foundation’s program for veterans, which provides veterans with free swim lessons. The program for veterans and the convenient location of classes led him to sign up. In doing so, Hayden became Swim Strong’s 11,000th student.
“I’ve been taking classes for two months now and I feel more comfortable and safer in the water,” Hayden said. “You gain confidence when trying new things.”
In addition to safety, Hayden finds that swimming is a great way to stay healthy. He doesn’t want to be sedentary, and swimming is a great antidote. “It’s quite a workout and it makes you more active,” he said.
While Hayden has come a long way since he first began swim lessons, he’d like to continue lessons to be a stronger swimmer. “I feel more comfortable in the water, but I still have a lot to learn.”
In addition to our Veterans program, Swim Strong offers lessons to help potential recruits pass swim tests to enter the Coast Guard, Navy, or Marines. Everyone can take advantage of Swim Strong’s affordable swim lessons for safety, health, recreation, competition, or career opportunities. Need-based scholarships for our swim lessons are also available for qualifying students.
