Marathon Runner
I started running about 4 years ago. After I did my first half marathon in January 2012 (in the snow!) I thought I’d never (want to) do a marathon.
Well, I changed my mind and proved differently with a Boston qualifying time in October 2012 on the boardwalk in Rockaway Beach, New York, just two weeks before the boardwalk was washed away by Sandy. Since then I’ve done 5 more marathons and New York City 2015 will be #7.
My most recent races were the 5th Avenue Mile (5:45, PR) on September 13, and the Bronx 10-Miler (1:05:42, PR) on September 27. Last year I ran the NYC Marathon in 3:14:19 and thereby qualified for the “local elite runner”
circle. For this year I hope to run a good race again and maybe even further improve my time.
I love running because it clears my head and I like to exercise. Also, and probably most importantly, what I love about running is the support runners provide to each other; it doesn’t matter who they are and where they come from, whether they are fast or slow, everyone is part of the community.
